The 4th Shanghai (Sheshan) Aviation Fair was held on Oct 23 and 24 at the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort.
The resort is the only place in Shanghai where drones, models, helicopters and seaplanes can fly and has isolated flight airspace approved by the military civil aviation flight control department.
During the fiar's grand opening ceremony, 100 rockets were launched in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
The ceremony also featured an air show with drones, paper airplanes and large model aircrafts flying with national flags, ribbons, banners and colored smoke.
In addition, Songjiang’s drone reconnaissance and rescue platoon held a drone exercise for visitors at the ceremony.
This year’s fair featured more model aircraft games and aviation defense education activities and was held at the Shanghai Xuanfeng Aviation Flight Camp, which is authorized by the China Aviation Sports Association.
The Shanghai Model Aircraft Games consisted of three events, including machine racing, the Dragon Gate Crossing Challenge, and the Fancy Stunt Flight Challenge, in which more than 60 participant and more than 100 aircrafts compete, offering a visual feast to visitors.
There is also cross-machine racing, drone football and off-road remote control model shows. The 1:5 off-road car model race, which is the only of its kind in China, featured speeds of up to more than 100 kilometers per hour.
Organizers of the fair also welcomed Spring Airlines, the School of Aviation and Mechanics of Tongji University, and the School of Air Transport College of the Shanghai University of Engineering Science to hold aviation science activities.
Family camping activities and fairs were also held. At the fair park, visitors can drive remote control cars, witness a variety of aircraft models and car models, and enjoy activities such as drone shows and military aircraft simulation flights.
Imported snacks, grilled sausages, barbecue, coffee and tea were also available at the park.
