China's first Smurfs theme park which opened in the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort on May 29, 2020 recently rolled out a series of activities to celebrate its first anniversary.
The park features an immersive indoor design and interactive activities that provide Chinese parents a nostalgic place to revisit their memories and their children a magical land to explore. Nearly 1 million people have visited the destination over the past year.
Decorations such as colorful hot air balloons, cake-shaped neon lights and Smurfs buntings can be seen everywhere in the park, creating a pleasant atmosphere for visitors to participate in the celebrations.
The activities include public theater shows (at 3:30 from Monday to Friday; 13:30 and 16:10 on weekends and holidays), float parade (at 14:30 every day) and DIY workshops (on weekends) and will last until the end of June.
At the birthday party, cosplayers of the popular cartoon characters tasted a special birthday cake with visitors and took photos with them.
A variety of Chinese, Japanese and Western-style food featuring Smurfs elements will also be offered at surrounding hotels.
An indoor water park which covers about 15,000 square meters and boasts more than 30 amusement park facilities will open in the west of the theme park on June 11, making the place an ideal choice for families in summer.
