Pudong New District of Shanghai launched the first district-level water color painting exhibition at its Jinhai Culture and Art Center on Dec 25, with help from the Pudong Artists Association and the Pudong Culture and Arts Instruction Center.
The exhibition, which will run until Jan 8, 2016, displays 141 paintings by more than 30 members of the Pudong Artists Association.
Li Jintang, president of the association, said that the exhibition is intended to introduce water color painting to more people and give local painters an opportunity to show their works.
Pu Dazheng, director of the association's water color painting commission, said that they wanted through this exhibition to arouse the interest of local residents and show them that water color painting is easy to learn.
The association authorities also stated that they planned to make the exhibition an annual event, in a bid to increase the influence of water color painting and help enrich local residents' cultural lives.
