The China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Shanghai's Pudong New District got some exposure from the Shanghai Economy and Informatization Commission recently, for its company credit rating system, according to the Pudong Times of Nov 26.
Pudong officials have described the system by saying that companies with a good credit record have access to preferential policies in the free trade zone, and that poorly performing ones have no access to them, then added that they checked the credit information on more than 9,000 enterprises and their managers in the zone in 2014 and plan to increase supervision of those companies with bad records.
They also described the incentives for companies with a good credit record, for instance, the way Shanghai Customs has simplified declarations to help companies increase efficiency and cut costs. And they claim that they will continue to improve the credit rating system to create a better business environment in the zone.
