The great potential in Chinese mainland's healthcare market attracted many Taiwan companies to expand their businesses on the mainland, according to Pudong Times, on Nov 25.

The potential was seen from the statistics that the mainland's total medical expenditure tripled over the past five years from $281.7 billion in 2010 to $853.6 billion in 2015.

The Hi-Q Marine Biotech International, headquartered in Taiwan was one of the forerunners to enter the market. It opened a branch at the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Pudong New District of Shanghai earlier this year.

Zhang Yongsheng, president of the company said that the move showed their determination to enter the mainland's healthcare market and they planned to explore the market with the strategy of combining Internet and marketing.

Zhang explained that The Hi-Q Marine Biotech International mainly focuses on the extraction of the micro molecule fucoidan, which is an ingredient of products used for adjuvant treatment and skin care.
