According to a signing ceremony on August 3, the Jiading plant of Autoliv, a globally leading supplier of automotive safety systems, is planning to develop an expansion project in Jiading Industrial Zone with an investment of 350 million yuan ($51.75 million).
The project is scheduled to commence construction in the first half of 2023 and is expected to be completed and put into production in 2024.
Once completed, it is expected to become a flagship airbag and auto parts manufacturing plant in China.
The plant also plans to cooperate with Jiading Industrial Zone to create fully automated and digitally connected "green plant".
Autolive develops and produces automotive safety products for world-class auto makers. The Autolive (Shanghai) Vehicle Safety Systems Co, which is located in Jiading district, is the largest airbag plant in China.
Jiading district has continued to promote the development of innovative automotive technologies such as semiconductors and integrated circuits to remain in line with the development goals of Autolive, said Sng Yih, president of Autoliv China.
Autoliv also plans to increase investment in China and Jiading district, Sng said.
