Lianyi village in Huating town, Jiading district, Shanghai is hidden deep in the rice fields and has become a land of idyllic beauty thanks to the local government's efforts to build a beautiful countryside.
The village partnered with a local company to launch a project entitled "Xiangyue Huating", aiming to beautify the village, strengthen infrastructure and upgrade tourism facilities. The project will adopt the Jiangnan style, referring to white walls, gray tiles, small bridges and flowing streams.
Local authorities said that the first phase of the project has an area of 3.16 square kilometers and makes use of Lianyi village's primitive landscapes to develop rural tourism. The project was launched in 2017 with a focus on building a beautiful countryside and developing modern agriculture.
Large-scale farming will be boosted in the village, and grapes and Hami melons will be planted. The village will focus on the production of nuisance-free agricultural products, green food products, and organic food products in an effort to improve the value of agricultural products and increase farmers' incomes.
