Jiangqiao town in Jiading district, Shanghai, has launched a range of activities to promote the ecological environment of its rivers through dredging and renovation of embankments, local media reported June 2.
The activities cover a length of 6,159 meters, and will dredge and broaden waterways in the town. Oxygenerators will be used to improve water quality.
Additionally, Xuxing town carried out new projects to renovate rivers, including more than 30 small and medium-sized waterways, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
According to Jiading authorities, the district has made great efforts to promote the regulation and governance of rivers over the past year, in order to create a green and ecological environment.
Jiading plans to renovate 102 rivers with a total length of 164.5 kilometers, with the aim of beautifying the landscape and enhancing the living environment for locals.
