A medical industry innovation forum was held on Nov 19 in Anting town, Jiading district, Shanghai, during which 16 innovative healthcare projects were signed to settle in the town.
The projects involve healthcare service platforms, medical apparatus and instruments, biomedicine and other areas of healthcare.
According to local officials, these projects will expand the medical industry cluster in Anting town and make its medical industrial park a demonstration site to promote the cooperative mode of "government guiding + professional operation", providing support for Jiading district to create a sound business environment for the development of the healthcare industry.
Local authorities said that through three years of efforts, Anting plans to build itself into a leading medical industry cluster in the Yangtze River Delta region and realize a high degree of integration of medical treatment, information and technology.
By 2021, Anting will strive to raise the total scale of the health and medical industry to 10 billion yuan ($1.42 billion), introduce and cultivate 100 high-quality enterprises in the sector, and build an incubator-accelerator-headquarters integrated park. Its carrier area for the health industry will reach 400,000 square meters and 2,000 medical professionals will be introduced.
The first phase of the Anting medical industrial park covers 1.53 hectares and is operated by a professional team, serving enterprises involved in precision medicine, medical devices and other fields. Its second phase is designed to cover 3.73 hectares.
Its precision medicine park is designed with an area over 33.7 hectares and will focus on the development of immune cell therapy, stem cell therapy and gene testing industry clusters.
Its healthcare comprehensive demonstration park, with a planning area of 140 hectares, will focus on the prevention and treatment of liver cancer.
