The Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently held a forum to celebrate its 60th anniversary and pay homage to its remarkable achievements.
The institute recounted its major achievements, strategic technology and products, demonstration and transformation projects, and other significant scientific research achievements over the past 60 years.
It also announced its ten most outstanding achievements, including the development of silicon carbide ceramic matrix composite technology and the development and application of inorganic thermal control coating, all contributing to major scientific breakthroughs in China.
During the event, the institute also signed cooperation agreements with Ganzhou Rare Earth Group, Jiangsu Tiemao Glass Co, and Zhejiang Energy Group to carry out in-depth cooperation in green technology, key materials, advanced safe energy storage systems, and the integration of solar energy storage with other fields.
The Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, one of the first 15 research institutes established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been based in Changning district, Shanghai since the 1930s and built an experimental base in Jiading district in the 1960s.
The institute is comprehensive and unique and carries out research on advanced inorganic nonmetallic materials. It has achieved outstanding results in pioneering basic research, innovation of high-tech materials, and applied research.
