It has a rich traditional cooking culture. The famous xiaolongbao, or steamed buns, a typical traditional Chinese food, originated in Jiading.
Its culture businesses and activities are thriving, with a culture center, museum, library, youth activity center, radio and TV station, and lots of traditional activities on offer, making for a strong folk arts scene. Home to the Shanghai International Automobile City where houses the Shanghai International Circuit, Asia's first Porsche Experience Center and Shanghai Auto Museum, the district holds multiple competitions and events every year, including the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix.
Jiading has seen rapid development and modernization in recent years, without losing its traditional culture. The designs of new architects in the area retain some of the spirit of Zen. Modern and traditional aspects of culture achieve a good balance here.
