The 4th Global Automotive Executive Council (GAEC) annual conference, also known as the Automotive Industry Innovation Forum, took place in Jiading district of Shanghai on Oct 23-24.
Themed on "Industrial Upgrading and Internationalization of Talents", the event brought together over 300 guests including GAEC members, auto company leaders, related experts and scholars who discussed the international development of the auto industry.
Shen Huadi, deputy head of Jiading district, introduced the district's industrial environment, auto industry being one of its pillar industries, and preferential policies for talents.
Xu Changming, deputy director of Information Resources development department at State Information Center, analyzed this year's auto market and predicted a growth rate of 6 to 8 percent of auto sales in the fourth quarter. He predicted that internet-connected vehicles will develop faster than new energy vehicles.
Wang Huiyao, vice president of China Talent Research, said the development of talents in China is encountering serious challenges – severe loss of top-rated talents and shortage of international talents. He also proposed ways to nurture and attract international talents from the perspective of enterprises and government.
Liu Zongwei, a professor at Tsinghua Automotive Strategy Research Institute, shared his views about the international development of Chinese auto enterprises in the post-joint venture era.
