Fan Yilin, a Jiading-born gymnast, won the gold medal in the women's uneven bars at the ongoing 13th Chinese National Games in Tianjin on Sept 6.
This is the first individual gold metal taken by an athlete from Jiading district at the National Games.
Fan, born in Jiading, Shanghai in 1999, started learning gymnastics in kindergarten and won her first medal at the 13th Shanghai Games in 2006.
As reward for her years of practice, she has won dozens of prizes including uneven bars gold at the National Gymnastics Championship in 2016 and World Gymnastics Championships in 2015, and balance beam gold at the Asian Gymnastics Championships in 2015.
