The Shanghai Art Center affiliated to a special committee for ceramics of the China Culture Promotion Society was inaugurated in Nanxiang town, Jiading district on July 18.
The Shanghai Art Center is located at the Shanghai Porcelain Pavilion on Weiwu Road in Nanxiang. The center is dedicated to combining rich Chinese culture with the country's unique ceramic art.
The center has invited senior technicians from Jingdezhen, the capital of porcelain in China, to make copies of 160 works of 89 renowned Chinese calligraphers in Chinese history onto porcelain plates. These masterpieces were displayed at the center during the inauguration.
Collections by Zhang Jingshou, a protégé of Cheng Yiting, a Chinese ceramic art master were on display at the ceremony. The exhibits revealed his exquisite craftsmanship and were admired by experts in attendance.
The center also plans to exhibit porcelain plates inscribed with 365 poems from the Tang Dynasty (618-907), in hope of promoting the preservation and inheritance of these precious Chinese cultural relics.
Founded in 1992, the Chinese Culture Promotion Society, under the governance of the Ministry of Culture, is aimed at promoting Chinese culture and enhancing international cultural exchange.
