The 2017 Summer Art Season opened in Anting town in Shanghai's Jiading district on June 24.
The three-month festival will feature more than 20 activities including art performances, competitions, and lectures.
At the opening ceremony, Ji Pingping, a ballerina, performed and gave a lecture about the development, dress, and dancing techniques of ballet.
Huang Xiaoyue, a local resident who has an eight-year-old daughter who loves ballet, said: "It is good for the child to listen to a professional ballet dancer teaching dancing techniques onsite. This will stimulate the child's stronger interest in learning ballet."

Wang Jiangzhong, an intangible cultural inheritor in Shanghai, was also invited to show the charm and exquisite skills of paper cutting, a traditional art form.
Anting town and Shanghai International Automobile City also recently signed deals with the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, Shanghai Ballet, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center, and Oriental Dance Culture and Arts Promotion Council to create a better cultural environment for local residents. The organizations will work together in art creation, promotion and performances.
