Jiading district of Shanghai hosted a meeting on May 4 to discuss ways to promote its cultural creative industry, local media reported.
The meeting was organized in response to the city's three-year plan, released on the same day, to boost local cultural creative industry.
Shen Huadi, deputy head of the district, attended the meeting and called on local departments to recognize the importance of the industry.
Shen said that it is a necessity for Jiading to develop the industry because it has already become a highlight of the district's economy.
According to statistics, the total revenue of the industry in Jiading amounted to over 137.7 billion yuan ($21.2 billion) in 2015, up 25.7 percent year-on-year.
In addition, some industrial parks such as Sino-ADI Development Base of Advertising & Creativity Industry and Nanxiang Shineland Park have received recognition as municipal-level cultural creative industrial parks.
The deputy head of the district said that developing the industry will help create a better business environment and attract more top enterprises to the district. It will also foster competitive industrial clusters, featuring e-commerce, creative advertising, industrial design as well as culture and art, he added.
