With a view to giving local residents better healthcare in 2016 and thereafter, Anting Hospital of Jiading district, Shanghai signed a cooperation agreement with the city's Tongji Hospital on Dec 31, 2015.
According to the agreement, the later will help the former to become a second-level grade A hospital. Tongji will organize academic exchange activities and lectures in clinical medicine, medical techniques and nursing for Anting. It will also offer remote diagnosis services to Anting's patients who suffer from difficult and complicated diseases.
The hospital authorities said that Tongji will give stronger support to Anting's urology and gynecology and obstetrics departments. It will send leading experts to Anting to help the hospital improve its medical services and management.

In addition, the authorities announced that Anting Hospital will be relocated and expanded to better meet local residents' medical needs. With total investment of 300 million yuan ($46.3 million), the new hospital will cover a combined floor area of nearly 64,000 square meters, about three times bigger than the present one.
"The new hospital is expected to start construction in early 2016. It is slated to have a bed capacity of 500 and will house advanced medical facilities," add an official.
