A conference on Internet of Things (IoT), part of the new generation of information technology has been held in Jiading district of Shanghai on Dec 9.
The conference was to promote the development of local IoT sector.
The day-long event was sponsored by the Jiading Industrial Zone and the Shanghai Center for Internet of Things and brought together a good number of scholars, experts, company executives and investors to brainstorm the current trend and development of IoT.

It included keynote speeches and group discussions, which offered a clear direction to companies and entrepreneurs that are working on or intend to work on emerging information industries such as IoT, cloud computing and big data.
To help local IoT industry develop on a sound track, authorities announced on the occasion that a scientific industrial park for IoT companies was being planned by the Jiading Industrial Zone, Shanghai SIMIC Co and Shui On Land, a Hong Kong-based real estate developer.
With a total investment of 9 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), the park will cover an area of over 300 mu (20 hectares). Having the technological advantages of a local IoT research institute, the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, the park aims to become an innovation center and an IoT industrial cluster with global influence in next five to ten years.
