An exhibition on artistic works of Qi Baishi (1864-1957), a famous contemporary Chinese painter kicked off at the Jiading Museum of Shanghai, on Nov 9. The two-month long event will run until Jan 9, 2016.
Around 100 paintings, pieces of calligraphy and seals of Qi from the Hunan Provincial Museum are on display which comprehensively and systematically shows the progress of the maestro's artistic career and painting style.
Visitors can have a general view of Qi's paintings on landscapes, flowers, birds and insects, characters, calligraphies, seals and poems.
Qi had long been honored with the title of "People's Artist" by the Ministry of Culture and was well-known for his whimsical and often playful painting style.
