A number of eight new schools will come into existence in September in Jiading district of Shanghai, local media reported on Aug 22.
These new schools include two nine-year schools, one primary school and five kindergartens. The surge in the number of schools highlights the local government's focus on education as well as its goal on developing Jiading into a hub for science and technology innovation.
The government is committed to bringing in high-level faculties. It cooperated with the East China Normal University (ECNU) and the Dulwich College International, a famous international education group, to establish two bilingual schools, a nine-year school and a kindergarten, in the International Automobile City of Jiading's Anting town. These bilingual schools aim at meeting the needs of local intellectuals who want their children to have international education.
In order to improve the local education quality, the government also aims to bring about a series of innovations in its school-running models. It promotes cooperation among schools in the same school district and encourages them to share education resources so as to achieve common development. It also encourages new schools to join the education groups to get high-quality education resources. The Lianchuan Experimental School that is to become functional in September has already joined the local Yingyuan Education Group.
