Shanghai Open University, formerly known as Shanghai Television University, has signed a framework agreement with Jiangqiao of Jiading district on Jan 25 to set up a training program for migrant workers.
According to the agreement, the training will include a series of cultural and skills-based courses that will be taught through visual methods like video materials and be based on the university's broadcasting platform.
The university also donated training materials and musical instruments to local migrant residents at the signing ceremony.
The migrant-worker-oriented training program, first launched by Shanghai Municipal Education Committee and Shanghai Open University in 2012, has designed a training system featuring various channels and formats, including a string of textbooks, video materials and a lecturer team composed of nearly 300 volunteers. So far, more than 70,000 migrant workers have attended the training program.
