The Shanghai Calligraphers Association and the literature and art association of Jiading, Shanghai, co-hosted an academic seminar on calligraphy studies on Dec 23 and 24.
The seminar received a lot of research papers covering all fields of calligraphy studies. A total of 36 papers, including three excellent ones, were selected through strict evaluation. The authors gave presentations on their papers during the two-day event. These papers will be published by Shanghai Painting and Calligraphy Publisher next year after revision.
The seminar also invited a group of local calligraphers and postgraduate students from the Art Institute of East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai to attend. According to Zhang Suo, a teacher from ECNU’s art institute, it is necessary for students to enrich their theoretical knowledge about calligraphy. The seminar offered them a good learning opportunity.
