Jiading hosts meeting to revive local literature school

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2014-11-11

Huang Lin, director of the Research Center for Chinese Ancient Literature of Fudan University, and Xia Xianchun, professor at the literature research institute of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, made reports at the symposium. Participants achieved a consensus that today’s researchers should learn from the traditional cultural heritage, offer useful cultural resources, and promote cultural and ideological progress.

Lin Jun, director of the district’s publicity department, extended a warm welcome to participants at the opening ceremony. He spoke highly of Jiading’s contribution to Chinese ancient literature and voiced his hope that Jiading’s culture and tradition can be carried forward in the future.

The “Jiading School of Literature” was first put forward by Gui Zhuang, great-grandson of famous essayist Gui Youguang (1507–1571) and Zhu Zisu, a local scholar in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911). The term was mentioned by a few scholars in recent years and has drawn great attention.
