The deputy mayor of Shanghai, Shi Guanghui along with officials from municipal agricultural departments came to the Jiading district of Shanghai on July 31 to supervise a family farm project, that is expected to be promoted this fall.
Visitors learned the overall processes of grain production, including mechanical sowing, reaping and drying. Shi admired Jiading’s sound agricultural infrastructure and social service system, which paves the way for the future development of family farms.
As a new mode of agricultural development, family farms should be carried out with adjustments to the traditional agricultural management and mode of profit distribution. The government should make efforts to create a favorable situation with sound policies, good economic returns and active participation by raising the added value of grain and improving farmers’ motivation, Shi said.
