The ceremony praised people who had made a contribution to society during the past two years. The winners included Wang Yinting, a regular voluntary blood donor; Yu Ping, a general manager devoted to the research and development of electric vehicles; Gao Jiu’er, a security staffer who fought with a criminal during a burglary; Zhang Biao, a community worker voluntarily delivering newspapers for 13 years; Klaus Hartig, a warmhearted German devoted to charity in China; Wang Zhenqian, a frontline worker of a local water plant; Cao Yungui, head of the gynecology department at Jiading Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital; Zhu Shiying, a legal mediator who has dealt with 6,000 labor dispute cases; Zhu Yu, a principal introducing management principles to education; and Han Tianheng, a seal-cutting master who donated 1,136 works of art to the district.

Another 10 people were granted a nomination award.

The selection was launched earlier this year with the list of nominees published in the district’s official newspaper, website and microblog. Over 20,000 people participated in the vote.
