The third Xuhang Games kicked off at Xuhang town, in Shanghai’s Jiading district, on May 8. Liu Haitao, the Chairman of Jiading district’s CPPCC, attended the ceremony and declared the games formally open.
The competition is open to two categories divided into ‘country group’ and ‘enterprise group’, and includes 10 competition events such as basketball, football and tug-of-war.
With the theme of "Green Xuhang: happy sport and healthy life", it has attracted 34 teams of more than 2000 Jiading residents.
On the opening day, approximately 700 people from each team performed the ninth series of radio gymnastics. At the same time, the art team of Xuhang also gave performances such as a lion dance, martial arts and a rope exercise.
According to the Jiading news report, the games will last until the end of September.
