Jiading Sub-Zone of Zhangjiang High-Tech Park is a component part of the "one zone and six parks" of the Shanghai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. It is also a cradle for returned Chinese students to create businesses and a base for Chinese and foreign high-tech entrepreneurs to pursue industrialization of research results. By the end of 2004, a total of 600 enterprises had been established in the zone, with total tax revenue of 250 million yuan ($40.8 million).
In particular, 18 enterprises have been confirmed as Shanghai's high-tech enterprises. The technical level of some high-tech products has also reached advanced international levels.
Jiading High-Tech Zone has leading industries such as advanced manufacturing industries, covering sectors such as mechatronics, photoelectronics, information technology, the functional industry (automobile industry) and the modern service industry.
It seeks to incubate and cultivate high-tech businesses and strives to help enterprises reduce initial investment, increase their success, avoid risks and expand development. The zone provides enterprises with a series of services. It works to build a communication platform to facilitate the combination of technologies and resources in order to cultivate new and high-tech enterprises with international competitiveness and comprehensive entrepreneurs.
The zone is accelerating construction in its north part, covering an area of 33.33 hectares, and is focused on establishing the “Jiading Silicon Valley Park”. It hopes to become an R&D center and scientific and technological incubation base for high-tech enterprises and returning Chinese.
