A new airport will be built in Qixia, a county-level city in Yantai, Shandong province, according to an approval delivered by the Shandong Development and Reform Commission on March 13.
With a total investment of 340 million yuan ($48.57 million), the new airport will be mainly used for aviation training, agricultural production, emergency rescue, aviation manufacturing and tourism.
Covering an area of 34.84 hectares, the airport project consists of two parts that is the construction of an airport, involving a runway with 800 long and 30 wide, and an aviation gas station.
After completion, the project will serve the construction of Qixia Aviation Industrial Park and help it build into a first-class aviation industry incubator park in Jiaodong and even in China, integrating parts manufacturing, machine assembly, airport operation, aviation tourism, and training.
