The first electric bus (e-bus) becomes operational in Yantai city, Shandong province on Nov 27, informed an official.

Along with this, at present, there are total 20 e-buses running in the Bus Route 39, which became the city's first route having such buses.

The officer added that the 6.8-meter long bus can carry 45 passengers and provide them with a quiet bus environment without making engine noise. Each 3.5-hour charge enables the bus to run for 100 kilometers.

The public transport company will add more e-buses to echo the central government's initiative of energy saving and emission reduction.
