A total of 125 tourism boats at the coastal city of Yantai in Shandong province have been forced to suspend operation from Nov 1. The ban will run until March 31, 2016, informed an official.

The officer cited the reason for the step that the bad weather in winter such as storm will pose safety threat to tourism boats. So Yantai port and shipping authority has announced that from Nov 1 to March 31 next year, tourism boats are prohibited for operation.

Any boat violating the ban will be punished. The move is to improve the boat security, he added.
