Yantai branch of Asiana Airlines manager Park Kyung-Won recieved “Honorary Citizen of Yantai” award from Yin Guowen, director of local foreign affairs office on November 20, on behalf of Park Sam-Koo, chairman of Kumho Asiana Group.
The “Honorary Citizen” award is a top honor to encourage and award foreign friends; overseas Chinese; and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan people who have made outstanding contributions to Yantai’s economic and social development.
Park Sam-Koo has made unremitting efforts to promote friendship and cooperation between South Korea and Yantai.
The subordinate company Asiana Airlines is not only the first foreign airline company that opened international routes in Yantai, but also a leader running airline routes between Yantai and South Korea.
In addition, the China-South Korea free trade zone is under planning. Yantai Chaoshui International Airport is about to open, and the Yantai inter-city railway will run at the end of 2015. These will provide new opportunities for China-South Korea cooperation and exchange, and boost the development of Asiana Airlines.
Yin voiced his hope that Park Sam-Koo and Asiana Airlines will continue to support Yantai’s economic development to promote exchange and cooperation between Yantai and South Korea.
Kyung-Won expressed gratitude on behalf of Park Sam-Koo. He said that Yantai was the first city in Shandong province where Asiana Airlines opened international routes. Since Asiana Airlines set up an office in Yantai and opened routes between South Korea and Yantai in 1998, Asiana Airlines has received strong support from the Yantai government. He added that Asiana Airlines will continue to devote itself to China-South Korea cooperation, and make more contributions to deepening friendship and economic and cultural exchanges between South Korea and Yantai in the future.
