Weihai ITU Triathlon gains national recognition
The Weihai ITU Triathlon, with 11 years cultivation and development, has gained recognition and popularity around the country.
The event was awarded as one of the country's top 10 high-quality sports tourism projects at the China Sports Culture and Sports Tourism Expo held from Dec 11 to 12 in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong province.
Other awarded sporting events included China Open, the only international tennis tournament in the country, Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix and Tour of Qinghai Lake.
After over 10 years of development, Weihai ITU Triathlon has become a high-quality event platform integrating competitive sports, mass sports and sports industry. With increasing influence and popularity year by year, it has become a renowned triathlon event at home and abroad.
Weihai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, boasts beautiful natural environment and extremely challenging track. For elite athletes, it can arouse a strong sense of visual impact and a sense of conquest.
Weihai has successfully held 11 years of high level triathlon race, which helps to accumulate rich experience in running the competitions and boost the brand of Weihai ITU Triathlon by winning reputation from the International Triathlon Union (ITU), the China Triathlon Sports Association and athletes from around the world.
