Yantai intangible culture heritage: Laizhou straw weaving
Laizhou straw weaving, a traditional handcraft in Yantai, originated from the countryside of Shahe River. It has a history of over 1500 years and was added on the list of National Intangible Culture Heritages in 2008.
A handful of wheat straw can be made into various straw products such as hats, bags and vases by braiding. Laizhou straw weaving s used in over 4000 varieties in designs and colors and its products are sold in China and 80 countries and regions across the world.
