As one of the major organizers for the Chinese Culture Ministry's Happy Chinese New Year project, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture has launched ten cultural exchange events with 131 participating members, to be held from Jan 1 to March 25, to promote Chinese New Year culture as well as the unique Qilu culture to different parts of the world.

1. Dec 26, 2016 to March 1, 2017: an exhibition titled "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou", with about 50 pieces of the Yangzhou School of Painting selected by the Shandong Museum, is being held at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum in Kaohsiung,Taiwan.

2. Jan 4 to 15: an array of artistic performances featuring Shandong cultural traditions was staged in the Taiwan counties of Nantou, Hualien and Taitung during an 11-day cross-Straits cultural exchange event.

3. Jan 8 to 11: a group of seven cultural community members led by the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture took part in the 2017 Hong Kong International Licensing Show in a bid to motivate the cultural creative industries and promote Shandong-Hong Kong cultural exchanges.

4. Jan 18 to 24: a group of 32 members from Shandong Art Troupe brought their best New Year's wishes to the people of Mongolia with a series of cultural activities and performances.

5. Jan 18 to 28: a group of 25 members from Jinan Art Troupe celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year in Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania with festive Chinese music and dances, acrobatics, magic shows and martial arts performances.

6. Jan 23 to Feb 1: a group of 21 members from Shandong Art Troupe rounded off nine performances in Thai cities and performed at the opening ceremony of the 2017 Happy Chinese New Year gala in Thailand.

7. Jan 27 to 31: a group of 10 members from Shandong Art Troupe celebrated the Chinese New Year of the Rooster in grand style in Stockholm.

8. Feb 2 to 22: exhibitions of ancient Buddhist sutras rubbings and drawings of Confucius sponsored by the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture are being held in Taitung County, Taiwan.

9. Feb 11 to 25: a group of 10 members from Shandong Peking Opera Theater are touring schools and universities in Hong Kong with classic Peking opera and Kunqu opera.

10. Feb 26 to March 25: exhibitions of ancient Buddhist sutras rubbings and drawings of Confucius sponsored by Shandong Provincial Department of Culture are being held in Hualien County, Taiwan.
