Overseas students highlight calligraphy festival
A group of overseas students from the international college of Qingdao University presented a calligraphy show in the opening ceremony of the seventh Qingdao Calligraphy Festival on May 29.
The foreign calligraphy enthusiasts came from multiple countries, including the US, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Germany.
They all showed great love for the Chinese art of handwriting and volunteered for the activity.
"I can feel a sense of calm when I practice calligraphy," said a US student who has studied Chinese traditional handwriting for almost one year.
He added that he would share this wonderful art with his American friends when he returned home.
The calligraphy festival was held to popularize the normative handwriting of Chinese characters in society and improve students' writing skills.
