A sole exhibition featuring 71 masterpieces painted by He Jiaying opened at the Shandong Art Museum in Jinan on May 28.
He Jiaying is a pioneer painter in contemporary China. The exhibition includes He's distinguished works over his 30 years of creation ranging from "claborate"-style painting, freehand brush work to sketches and drafts.
In his paintings, he often integrated western painting ingredients and Japanese color style with Chinese traditional claborate-style painting.
He also believes that great works originated from life and insists seeking inspiration from the real world. Audiences will find various kinds of modern figures from all walks of society.
"He's works depict the beauty of an age and also influence a whole era," said Tian Liming, vice dean of the Chinese National Academy of Arts.
