Yantai held a tourism marketing event in Beijing on April 26, marking the first time the seaside city has carried out marketing and promotion in the Chinese capital.
Officials from Yantai's government bodies, including tourism, housing, commerce, transportation, urban development and finance departments were all present at the event, and focused on the city's highlights in tourism, livability and business.
Yantai, Shandong province, has cooperated well with Beijing in tourism and business for the past few years. It welcomed more than two million tourists from Beijing in 2015, and 33 world's top 500 enterprises based in Beijing have invested in the city.
Yantai plans to hold promotional events every year in cities with which it has close relationships.
Promotional films and advertisements also promoted Yantai as a "Wonderland with Mountains and Seas, Capital of Wine" and "Choosing Yantai to Achieve a Bright Future". Panels have been put on display at the exit of Beijing Railway South Station, as well as the key bus routes, such as the No 4, No 717 and No 691.
Being one of the first 14 coastal open cities in China, Yantai is a strategic pivot in the Belt and Road Initiative and the forefront city for the establishment of a China-South Korea free trade zone. Its aggregate economic volume ranks 20th in the whole country. Previous accolades of the city include "United Nation Habitat Award", "the Most Glamorous City", "Beautiful Leisure City Award", and "China Gold Medal City" for Investment Environment. |
