A marathon event took place in Yantai city of Shandong province on Oct 11, informed an official.

The officer said that the day-long game was tailored in several categories to suit all kinds of running enthusiasts. It featured a full marathon (42.195 kilometers), a half marathon (21.0975 kilometers), a 10-km mini marathon and a 5-km family run.

This year's event was sponsored by Yantai municipal government and SAIC Buick, and co-organized by Yantai sports bureau and Yantai Daily, he added.

In 2010, the annual athletic sports activity was started with the aim to promote national fitness and lift Yantai's image.
