The construction of Qinglian railway (Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway) is undergoing smoothly. It is slated to open to traffic in 2018, informed a railway official.
The railway will start from Qingdao city in Shandong province, pass through Rizhao in Shandong and end in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province. It will have 11 stops. The railway is designed with an average speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
It will connect with Qingdao-Rongcheng high-speed railway, Shandong's first inter-city line; Lancun-Yantai railway that runs high-speed bullet trains between Jinan and Yantai; Lianyungang-Yancheng Railway and Shanghai-Nantong Railway.
The officer claimed that after completion, it will shorten the travel time between Yantai and Rizhao to one and half an hour and cut the time between Qingdao and Shanghai from seven to four hours. In addition, the railway will improve the transport capability of Shandong Peninsula and Eastern China.
