Yantai is all set to facilitate development of sports industry in the city by waging the constructions of 15 sports industry parks and bases.
The city will construct a training base of sailing and windsurfing at the Yantai Sports Park. Covering a floor area of 37,000 square meters, the training base, with an investment of 150 million yuan ($24.17 million), will become functional from 2017, and will be open for both professional training as well as public amusement.
On the other hand, the Shandong Sports Industry Park is likely to set up in Mu Ping district, Yantai. Covering an area of 1,000 to 2,000 acres, the park will feature high-end sports logistics and sports products research and manufacturing. The government has preliminarily proposed the design and planning projects.
The Haiyang Beach Sports Industry Park, as a venue of the third Asian Beach Games in 2012, has abundant beach sports facilities for like beach soccer, beach volleyball and rock climbing. In its blueprint, the park will be designed as an urban complex of international sports competition and public exercises.
As a venue of the 18th CMAS Finswimming World Championships, the Qixia Changchun Lake Sports Industry Park has shown its ability to host international sports events. Meeting all requirements for rowing and kayak training, the park will be mainly used as a training base and also as a tourist resort at the same time.
The Horse-raising Island Equestrian Sports Base, as a venue of 2009 National Games of the People's Republic of China, will invest 120 million yuan ($19.33 million) to improve its supportive facilities and to upgrade its sports service facility.
However, it cannot merely rely on the support of the Yantai Sports Bureau to develop the sports industry. The Bureau of Commerce, the Municipal Administration of Culture and Radio as well as the Bureau of Insurance Regulatory is expected to coordinate in increasing the radiation effects of Yantai's sports industry. |
