The city of Yantai in Shandong province has made an announcement to collect global ideas for a city slogan starting from August 5.

The activity is aimed at lifting Yantai's profile around the world and attracting more visitors to travel, invest and live in the city.

The slogan is expected to display Yantai's distinctive culture, rich resources and city image in 10 words. It can be both in Chinese and English language.

The collection time will run until the end of this September. Both public and experts will be invited to vote for the slogans. The adopted slogan will be awarded with 10,000 yuan ($1,607.79). Other two shortlisted slogans will be awarded with 5,000 yuan each. The activity will also have 30 consolation prizes.

Facing Japan and South Korea and neighboring the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, Yantai is blessed with picturesque scenery. As the only "International Grape and Wine City" in Asia and the hometown of fruit, Yantai is a hot tourist destination for visitors around the world. This move will add on to the city's image.
