Shandong province saw its port cargo throughput top 590 million tons in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent.
Its port container throughput grew by 12.6 percent to reach 10.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). As the largest foreign trade port in the province, the Port of Qingdao handled 230 million tons of cargo during the past six months, up 11.3 percent over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the Port of Rizhao realized 160 million tons in cargo throughput, an increase of 10.5 percent, and the Port of Yantai achieved 110 million tons, an increase of 12.9 percent.
