China Mengniu Dairy Company Ltd opened a factory in Qingyuan in March as part of its goal to become the largest dairy processing base in Guangdong.

Construction of the plant on a land parcel of 178.8 mu in size began Oct 18, 2009, and was completed by mid-March. Grand opening ceremonies were held March 17. The factory is equipped with advanced automatic production equipment. The company said the new factory will have an average daily production capability of 200 tons and annual output value of 700 million yuan.

During the first half of 2010, Mengniu invested 400 million yuan in a modern cow breeding base project in Tongliao with a projected capacity of one million cows, as well as pastures and an organic liquid milk factory in Yinchuan.

Mengniu has established 40 production bases across the country, implementing a “green” strategy of development by focusing on environmentally friendly technologies. Mengniu has established 14 large pastures nationwide, and another 20 to 30 large pastures will be built in the future as part of the company’s commitment to safeguard the quality of milk sources.
