The Android smartphone is fitted with a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel as its primary display and a 5.2-inch E-Ink screen on the gear side.
With its good sunlight visibility and high performance battery, the E-Ink screen solves two common problems faced by AMOLED screen users. Furthermore, the smartphone is equipped with fingerprint detectors on both screens.
It's hoped that the phone, which costs 2,999 yuan ($435), will capture young consumers and e-book enthusiasts.
Consumers can choose how they want to use the device with the E-Ink screen and its connectivity to a range of online applications providing the option of an enjoyable E-Book experience.
Based in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province, Hisense is best known for its TV products.
