Chinese electronics giant Hisense lived up to its promise to debut the world's first 4K wide-angle laser cinema television on the eve of the UEFA Euro 2016 final in Paris on Sunday.
Qingdao-based Hisense, China's largest TV manufacturer in terms of volume and the official partner of the Euros, rocked the electronics market with the new release. Featuring DLP Cinema technology similar to that used in IMAX cinemas, the TV is capable of beaming a 100-inch image from a distance of two feet.

The TV is a result of 10 years of pioneering research, design and manufacturing and is tipped to be cheaper than the LED backlit LCD televisions that dominate the market.
"Our 4K laser cinema television is the project that we have invested the most in over the last two years. It has achieved 217 patented technologies," said Liu Hongxin, president of Hisense Group.
Liu added that the new product is equipped with an outstanding optical engine, high resolution lens and high precision manufacturing techniques, and has greatly surpassed the level of luminance and color saturation than that in normal LED 4K televisions.
Most importantly, the new model will cost a tenth of the price of traditional LED TVs. Hisense's 100-inch 4K laser cinema television will cost around 600,000 yuan ($10,000), far less than the $50,000 asking price for Sony's 4K laser projector.
"The ultimate of technology is to set up a cost advantage," said Lin Lan, vice president of Hisense Group. He added that Hisense would strive to realize its dream to enable every normal family to afford a cinema television.
