Qingdao promotes city image in South China

After Shanghai, Qingdao China, the super trimaran named after the city of Qingdao, Shandong province, arrived in its second port of call, Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, on Oct 28.
Guests including governmental officials and representatives from local yacht association welcomed the trimaran at the wharf and then attended a city image promotion meeting.

Luan Xin, vice-mayor of Qingdao, made a speech themed "Sailing with Blue Dream, Sailing across Silk Road" at the meeting. She expressed gratitude for the support given by all parties to the navigation, which aims to promote Qingdao as the "Sailing City" of China and to develop it into a leading blue economy city.
With Guo Chuan, Song Kun and international sailors on board, the voyage is to set sail to nine Asian, African and European cities, promoting China's image and serving as a platform for Qingdao's sports, tourism, culture and trade exchanges between these cities along the route.
As forefront coastal cities and important harbors on Maritime Silk Road, Qingdao and Guangzhou have made achievements in economic and social development, said Cai Chaolin, vice-mayor of Guangzhou, adding that Guangzhou would deepen cooperation with Qingdao and make joint contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative.

The super trimaran Qingdao China departed from Qingdao on Oct 21, and called at Shanghai on Oct 23. It is planned to berth at its next destination, Hong Kong, on Oct 30.
