As the Chinese Spring Festival approaches, the city of Qingdao in Shandong province, is preparing to dispatch 61 trains during the so-called "Spring Festival rush", from Feb 4 to March 15, according to the city's railway station.

During the 40-day period, passenger numbers are expected to reach 1,160,000, rising 11.5percent over last year's figures, according to Liu Qing, deputy stationmaster of the city's railway station. Liu said that the railway station will set up two ticket windows for students and migrant workers.

The station will also add a new information desk and provide waiting areas for elderly and passengers with disabilities, where they can enjoy special assistance with pre-booked trains. The measures have been implemented to help deal with the Spring Festival travel rush, which is considered to be the world's largest annual human migration.

In addition, a free Wifi service will be available at the Qingdao station, beginning on Feb 4, to enable passengers to access travel information.
