General Introduction

The Administrative Committee of Jimo Agriculture Hi-new Technology Development Zone is the representative office of Jimo Municipal Government. Funded in 2000, the Zone was invested by the municipal government. Its main responsibilities include the layout and organization of the greenhouse agricultural development zone along DAGU River, inbraught of the commercial investment, exploration, test and popularization of the agricultural technology and new breeds, services of the cultivation, skills and information for hi-tech agriculture, construction of the top enterprises in the Zone, development of the deep processing of agricultural products. With a total investment capital of 120000000 Yuan, the Zone is comprised of three zones. They are Center Zone, Demonstration Zone and Radiation Zone. Covering an area of 10000 mus, the Center Zone is located in Yifengdian. It helps 36000 peasants to develop greenhouse agriculture. The Demonstration Zone has an area of 50000 mus, and its main responsibilities are to develop the greenhouse agriculture of the towns along DAGU River. These towns are Yifengdian, Qiji, Liujiazhuang and Duanpolan. Radiation Zone covers an area of 300000 mus, which radiates 15 grass roots nearby.

Brief introduction of visiting spots

Technology Training Center

The construction area of the Training Center is 1500 square meters. The Center invites college professors, foreign agricultural experts and the technicians of the Zone to train the peasants in the cultivation of melons and vegetables. It has hosted over 160 training classes and lectures, sent out over 50000 brochures. 16000 peasants have attended the training.

Factorialization Breeding Center

The Zone invested 2000000 Yuan to bring in the advanced automatic-controlling greenhouse and full automatically breeding lines in the world to deal with the problems of difficult breeding and large risk. That results in factorilizing breeding. Aiming at resolving the technological difficulties of directions of base materials, product flows, environmental genes controlling, the Center cooperates with Shandong University. These contribute to the technological regulations of vegetables factoriliazation, and constructed one technological and standardized system of breeding environment. The Center cultivates seeds for the peasants and sells them at the cost price. They have supplied 8000000 high grade seeds to the peasant.

Cultivating, Test and demonstration and indraught seeds Center

There are 123 test demonstration greenhouses in the Center. The Center cooperates with academies, colleges, international breeding giants to bring in advanced breeds and new technologies. They supply the greenhouse agriculture with proper and unitized technologies. Whenever they bring in one breeding, they will test first. If the test is successful, they will then organize the peasants to visit and take the training. The Zone has invested over 2000000 to bring in more than 180 new breeds of melons and vegetables, and 60 new technologies from Holland, Israel, Spain and Taiwan of China.

Intellectualized Greenhouse

The Greenhouse covers an area of 5000 square meters with a total investment of 4000000 Yuan. It is one of the world top seed breeding center and mainly in charge of the subsequent breeding of the seeds. It is capable of breeding over 20000000 seeds each year.

Cultivating Service Center

There are three technology service teams in the Center. They go to the villages to teach cultivation and management skills of planting vegetables. The Center opens the first provincial free hotline to answer the questions of cultivating technology. The Center bought one bus specifically for technology service. The bus will get to the peasants for technology guidance if the peasants need help. There is one programme in Jimo Broadcasting Channel named “Mao Naiwei’s planting vegetables”. The programme lasts twenty minutes every day and has fixed audiences of 200000, which expand the scope of service.

The Center also established an Agriculture Technology Club. The club bought quantities of books and CDs, photoelectron microscopes and soil tachymeters. 10000 peasants come to the club for planting information and communication of their experiences. The Serving Center also offers the agricultural resources at the floor price to the peasants. The Zone has provided over 800000 tons of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and farm films for the peasants without any quality problems.
