Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan, inspected the Kaluganga Dam (K Dam) project currently being constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, the world's largest power construction enterprise.

The ambassador was impressed by the rapid progress and Sinohydro's efforts in guaranteeing safe construction.

He suggested Sinohydro could further improve its safety surveillance mechanisms and add specialized training sessions for staff.

Receiving wide attention from both China and Sri Lanka, K Dam is expected to inject new impetus to the latter's economy and mark a milestone under the Belt and Road Initiative, noted Cheng.

He hopes the dam will take the China-Sri Lanka friendship into a brighter future.
