Sri Lanka Moragahakanda Dam begins operating

The impounding ceremony of the Moragahakanda Dam in Sri Lanka was held on Jan 11. Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena and Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yi Xianliang attended the ceremony.

According to Sirisena, the Moragahakanda Dam will play an important role in the economic development of Sri Lanka. He appreciated the contribution made by the Chinese government and constructors, and looked forward to further cooperation in the future.

Yi said that the Moragahakanda Dam was a major livelihood project that a Chinese company was contracted to build in Sri Lanka. Many Chinese companies are willing to invest in Sri Lanka and promote the social and economic development of the country.
